PARIS (LA DEFENSE) 19 images Created 15 Dec 2018

Bienvenue à la Ville des Lumières et de l’Amour!

Paris is truly one of the most magnificent cities I have ever had the chance to visit. Literally minutes after arriving at La Gare du Nord via the EuroStar train from London, I wanted to start taking photographs and bypass checking into my hotel altogether. However, I gathered my patience, checked in, and just started walking around the city immediately afterwards.

As I have now told my friends and family, I have never been to a city where every street, every alley, every square, and every building was an instant photo opportunity. . .and this was during the *day*. I will conclude that one has not seen Paris until he or she has seen it **at night**!

Originally, Paris was known as “The City of Light”, because it was regarded as an international, cosmopolitan center of education, innovation, and the arts during the Age of Enlightenment in the late 1600s.

Over time, Paris also became renowned as "The City of Lights” on account of its use of gas lamps to illuminate the streets in the 19th century. Today, many of us know Paris to be "The City of Love”. One is mesmerized by the city streets after the sun goes down and if you're not falling in love with someone, you've already fallen in love with the city and its sparkling allure.

Similar to Hong Kong, Paris exceeded all my expectations. I was also very content to practice my French with the Parisians, a language I have studied since I was a teenager. I was even happier to find my fears of communicating poorly in French were unfounded. I believe the Parisians admired my efforts, and I admired them for encouraging me to continue when I fumbled over some vocabulary.

Enjoy! Amusez-vous!
