Welcome to Accra, the capital city of Ghana, located in West Africa, north of the Gulf of Guinea, by extension of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Accra gallery is an important milestone for TIA because all six inhabitable continents that have major cities are now featured on this website.

TIA is proud to have an African city featured on its website, and can now truly live up to the "International" in its name! With Accra, all continents (except Antarctica) are now represented here!

Accra is a massive, sprawling city originating along the Gulf of Guinea and continuously expanding north towards the elevated hills and mountains.

In this collection, you will enjoy scenes from the city centre, as well as other locales, such as Jamestown (a neighborhood of Accra),
Aburi (a town north of Accra where one of Africa's first cocoa farms is located), and Kokrobite (a colorful beach getaway southwest of Accra).

I would personally like to thank my sister, who was a resident of Accra for two years, for helping to organize my visit.
She encouraged me to visit specifically so that Africa would have representation by TIA.

Additionally, I would like to thank some of Ghana's most brilliant photographers who took time out of their schedules to meet with me and show me around the Greater Accra Region,
including Kobe Subramaniam (http://www.kobebigs.com), Nana Kofi Acquah (http://www.nkacquah.com), and Francis Kokoroko (https://www.instagram.com/accraphoto/).
Each of them contributed to making my photo tour of Accra successful.

For a different and more historical view of Ghana, please be sure to visit the Cape Coast gallery as well.

Aburi is a small town located 21 miles (33km) north of Accra. To get there, you must ascend upwards upon some very steep hills. From Aburi's high elevation, some extraordinary views of Accra's expansive growth can be observed. Aburi is also the location of one of Africa's first cocoa farms. Did you know Ghana is the world's second largest exporter of cocoa (after Côte d'Ivoire)? Cocoa accounts for one-sixth of Ghana's GDP.

Welcome to Jamestown, a historic district of Accra and sometimes called "Old Accra". Jamestown is primarily a fishing community and a residential area. TIA captured these images from the pinnacle of the Jamestown Lighthouse, a landmark in Accra.

When Accra residents need a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of the capital, they only need to journey 21 miles (33km) southwest to Kokrobite ("Koh-kroh-bee-tay"), a beautiful, inviting, beach town along the Gulf of Guinea. This is also a popular tourist attraction for visitors to Accra. Enjoy a few images from this charming locale.
